Scorpions Beat Cavalry, 6-2
|
The 6-2 Sonoma win over St. Louis was due largely to Joe Orr. The Scorpions right fielder went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Freddy Vazquez, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 5. Sonoma is now 10-11.
In the bottom of the third inning, first baseman Bill Hoeltke had a 3-run home run for Sonoma. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Scorpions on top, 3-2.
Hoeltke attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
