Starting pitcher Gerardo Matute pitched well enough to help the Miami Boll Weevils beat the London Tigers, 8-3. Bob Garbee recorded the save, his 1st. Miami is now 13-6.

Dave Haines hit a 2-run home run off Ettore Citti in the bottom of the first, which put the Boll Weevils ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Haines had 1 double, while going 2 for 5.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Matute.
