Scorpions Come Up Short at Hialeah, 2-1
|
Sonoma got a valiant performance from pitcher Terence Rodda, but it wasn't enough to beat the Hialeah Firecats. Hialeah won the game, 2-1. Rodda threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Dustin Richards got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 1 run on 9 hits in 7 innings. Armando Salas finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Ben Sheldrick hit a run-scoring triple off Terence Rodda in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Firecats in front, 2-1. Sheldrick had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 2.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Hialeah manager John Costa said.
Hialeah is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 8th in 20 games.
