The Vermont Milkmen went down to defeat to Gerardo Matute and his Miami teammates. The final score was 7-1, in favor of the Boll Weevils. Bob Garbee claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 4 innings. His record stands at 1-0. The win gives Miami a record of 6-3.

The Boll Weevils got a big hit from catcher Justin Steltenpohl. Facing Vermont pitcher Glen Foster in the bottom of the sixth, Steltenpohl pounded a grand slam home run to center. His 1st home run of the season put the Boll Weevils ahead, 7-1.

"If we keep hitting the ball well, the wins will pile up," said Miami skipper Bill Murtha.
