The Riverside Rotters defeated the Mesa Razor Sharks, 8-4, in 11 innings. Much of the credit belonged to first baseman Gene Wenzel, who went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Rotters. The Rotters now have a record of 92-48 with the win over Mesa.

Riverside needed the clutch hitting of Bob Ontiveros to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a grand slam home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Rotters on top, 8-4. For the game, Ontiveros had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Wenzel. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
