Adam Matthews was terrific for the Boise Dread Kings in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Traverse City Bears. His performance earned Matthews rave reviews. Matthews picked up the win for Boise, going 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The Dread Kings, at 67-62, sit in 5th place in the Eastern AA Southen Division.

Boise got a lift in the bottom of the fourth from first baseman Joel Thompson, who hit a fastball to left-center for a 2-run home run. His 19th home run of the season put the Dread Kings up, 2-1.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Matthews said.
