2023 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Traverse City Bears.

Getting a good performance from first baseman Malcolm Babcock, the Rohnert Park Cougars defeated the Traverse City Bears, 14-3. Babcock went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 7 RBI and scoring twice for the Cougars. Rohnert Park pitcher Oscar Zuniga got the win, upping his record to 4-3. Danny Arroyo got the loss.

With Rohnert Park leading 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Babcock batted against Traverse City pitcher Stuart Blankenship. Babcock hit a changeup to right for a grand slam home run. His 13th home run of the season put the Cougars on top, 12-2.

"Bad day," Traverse City manager Zach Hildebrant said. "New day tomorrow."

The Cougars have now won 4 straight.
