Mountaineers Take Down Wildthings, 4-2
|
Despite the exploits of first baseman Mike Scharn, the Washington Wildthings were beaten by the Winchester Mountaineers, 4-2, in 11 innings. Scharn was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The first-place Mountaineers improved to 76-26.
Josh Botello, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2020 draft, chipped in a run-scoring walk for Winchester in the top of the 11th. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
