Suns Rebuff Running Rebels, 3-1
|
Joe Handler was instrumental in his team's 3-1 triumph over the Fresno Running Rebels. The first baseman was 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Aurora Suns. Aurora pitcher Gerardo Cruz got the win, upping his record to 11-2. Brent Gudim got the loss. Josh Maughan was credited with the save, his 5th in 5 tries.
With Aurora trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Handler hit a fastball from Brent Gudim for a 3-run home run. It was his 20th home run of the season and put the Suns ahead, 3-1.
"We're producers not directors," said Handler. "Produce a good swing. Can't direct where it goes."
The win hiked the Aurora record to 58-38.
