Rotters Win Streak Now at 9 After 6-4 Victory
|
Tom Krueger helped his team muscle past the Alcoa Millionaires, 6-4. In the game, the Riverside shortstop went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 times. Josh Monroe, the winner, improved to 8-2. He held Alcoa to 4 runs on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Howie Freel picked up the save, his 2nd.
Gene Wenzel had a big 2-run home run for the Rotters in the top of the first inning. With Riverside leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Jay Altieri and swatted a home run to left. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rotters ahead, 3-0.
"I like our mindset right now," said Riverside manager Hermenegildo Fernando.
The wins continue to add up for Riverside. The latest makes it 9 in a row.
