Great Day for Donovan -- 5 Hits
|
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
T.J. Donovan is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Washington Wildthings at Red Barons Ballpark. The monster effort from the 27-year-old third baseman helped the Corpus Christi Mermen get the win, 11-0.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Wildthings manager Danny Sanchez. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
T.J. Donovan singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Bob Paterson in the 8th.
On the year, Donovan has hit .272 with 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and scored 26 runs.
