A 4-RBI performance from designated hitter Bob Carpenter, who is tied for 10th in the E-AA in bases on balls with 23, led the Winchester Mountaineers to a win over the Traverse City Bears, 10-0. Ed Jenkins got the win, improving to 4-2. He held the Bears to no runs on 4 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 2. The Mountaineers improved to a lofty 30-10.

With Winchester leading 3-0 in the bottom of the second, Carpenter hit a sinker from Pat Potter for a grand slam home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Mountaineers ahead, 7-0.

"I still think this team can play even better," Carpenter told the Winchester Chronicle.
