Mountaineers Hand Traverse City 3-1 Loss
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Winchester Mountaineers and the Traverse City Bears, pitcher Gilberto Cortez was the difference between victory and defeat. The Winchester left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Mountaineers win. Angelo Quezada closed out the game, earning his 2nd save. The loss makes Traverse City 7-32.
Winchester first baseman Ryan Burchett delivered a solo home run in the bottom of the third. Overall, he went 3 for 3, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 2.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Traverse City skipper Zach Hildebrant, "and it cost us."
