Polecats Get Clutch Win Versus Encinitas
The Encinitas Eskimo Brothers got a sterling performance from pitcher Perry Norman, but the Libertyville Polecats still prevailed, 4-3. Norman threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. Ruben Torres earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 5-1. Today's win puts Libertyville at 19-19, while Encinitas falls to 22-16.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 24-year old center fielder Eric Schultz had a chance to be the hero. Encinitas pitcher Danny Wagner wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Schultz hit a sacrifice fly. The Polecats had themselves a thrilling win.

"It's great when the crowd is energized," Schultz said.
