Mermen Need Extra Frames to Get Past Cougars
|
The Corpus Christi Mermen faced a tough opponent in Rohnert Park pitcher Willie Krell, but still scratched out a win at Ballpark of Greenup by a final score of 6-3 in 10 innings. Krell went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Corpus Christi is now 16-20.
Corpus Christi needed the clutch hitting of Mike Belsito to notch the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Mermen on top, 6-3. For the game, Belsito had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
