Riding the 3-hit performance of the 28-year old right fielder Tyler Reese, the Corpus Christi Mermen stopped the Alcoa Millionaires, 9-0. Corpus Christi pitcher Justin Trunzo got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Chris Nagel got the loss. By defeating Alcoa, the 5th-place Mermen improved to 13-17.

Corpus Christi left fielder Ian Cason contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 32nd hit of the season and put the Mermen ahead, 2-0.

"We take it day by day here," said Reese, "and today was a good one for us."
