Mountaineers Squelch Polecats Offense in Shutout Win
The Winchester Mountaineers welcomed the Libertyville Polecats to an night game at Field of the Polecats.

Gilberto Cortez, who leads the E-AA in innings pitched with 40.1, was terrific for the Winchester Mountaineers in his team's 6-0 triumph over the Libertyville Polecats. His performance earned Cortez rave reviews. The winning pitcher was Cortez, now 4-0. He tossed 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 3.

With one out in the top of the first, Pete Kincaid put Winchester in front, 3-0, with a 2-run single. The Mountaineers went on to win the ballgame.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Libertyville manager Justin Thiede.

The first-place Mountaineers have won 9 in a row.
