The rain did not keep Riverside and Corpus Christi from finishing their game.

Micah Smith pitched a gem to lead Riverside to victory over the Corpus Christi Mermen, 4-0. In 6 innings, Smith surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Greg Forness finished to wrap up his 2nd save.

The Rotters got an important contribution from shortstop Roberto Vazquez, who in the bottom of the second punched a full count sinker to right-center for a 2-run double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Rotters ahead, 2-0.

"I like our mindset right now," said Riverside manager Adrian Mercado.

The Rotters, now 19-9, have played well so far.
