Millionaires Get Clutch Win, 3-2
|
Alcoa Grounds was the site of a tense game between the Libertyville Polecats and Alcoa Millionaires.
The Alcoa Millionaires had to overcome a fine effort from Libertyville pitcher Evan Edelstein to win, 3-2, at Alcoa Grounds. Edelstein went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Julio Matias claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 2-1. Gabe Mondragon picked up his 1st save of the season.
Jim Unknown was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Alcoa. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Unknown had a clutch at-bat. Facing Libertyville hurler Dave Leonetti, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Millionaires a 3-2 lead.
"Every loss hurts," said Libertyville manager Armando Cerda. "But this was a tough one."
Alcoa has a record of 12-16.
