Bears Pull Out Late-Game Win, 5-4
|
The Bears earned a hard-fought, 5-4 win in 11 innings at Chiefs Ballpark. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Mescalero pitcher Kareem Craig. Craig went 5.2 innings and allowed no runs. Quincy Donaldson earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. Jimmy Carr nailed down his 1st save.
Traverse City needed the clutch hitting of Tony Robinson to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Bears on top, 5-4. For the game, Robinson had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Mescalero manager Hunter Santiago. "The effort was great."
Traverse City is now 10-12.
