Late Offense Lifts Winchester to 12-10 Victory
Fresno got a terrific game from shortstop Andy Curran. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Winchester, 12-10. Curran went 4-5 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times. Brad Williamson notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. The hot start continues for the defending champion Mountaineers. This was their 16th win in 20 games.

Winchester used the clutch hitting of Dan Canady to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Mountaineers the lead, 11-10. For the game, Canady had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Canady, "but we got it done."
