Rotters Suffer One-Run Loss at Fresno
In a high-scoring contest between Fresno and Riverside, second baseman Jeremy Hatton was a difference-maker. Hatton, who is tied for 5th in the E-AA in triples with 1, distinguished himself in the 9-8 Fresno win. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Clint Rapson picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Pete Mead suffered the loss. Mike Custer earned the save for Fresno, his 1st.

Jeff Valent chipped in for Fresno, stroking a crucial 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Valent, "but we got it done."

Fresno goes to 9-4.
