Encinitas right fielder Steve Valkenburg contributed significantly to his team's 19-5 win over the Traverse City Bears. Valkenburg, the 19th overall pick in the 2022 draft, went 2 for 2 with 5 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Eskimo Brothers. Now 1-11, the 2024 Bears have been wretched so far.

The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth when Valkenburg hit a 2-run home run. It thrust the Eskimo Brothers into the lead, 4-2.

"This is a great group to be a part of, and it's a big win for us," Valkenburg told the Encinitas Daily.
