Bears Thwart Mountaineers, 7-6

Greensboro Grounds was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Traverse City Bears and Winchester Mountaineers.
The Traverse City Bears cut down the Winchester Mountaineers by the score of 7-6, with the largest share of the credit going to shortstop Kevin Hilfiker. Hilfiker went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Bears. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Unknown.
The Bears got a big at-bat from left fielder Paul Watson. For the game, Watson went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Traverse City a 7-6 lead.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Traverse City manager Zach Hildebrant.
Winchester, with the loss, is still a robust 6-1.
