Matt Roberts knocked in 4 runs to help Fresno beat Encinitas, 6-3. The designated hitter collected 2 singles, 1 double, and 1 home run. Fresno reliever Clint Rapson picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Bobby Fawbush was tagged with the loss. Getting the save was Jordan Clayton, his 1st.

Roberts had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Kenny Fuzzell, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Running Rebels a 5-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Roberts.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Roberts. "You've got to get results."
