Rotters Top Wildthings, 14-9
Washington shortstop Steve Bloomquist pounded Riverside Rotters pitchers at Red Barons Ballpark, but it was not enough to keep the Wildthings from falling, 14-9. Bloomquist went 5 for 8 with 2 home runs, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The loss drops Washington to 1-1.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Bobby Shrader came to bat in the top of the 15th. Facing Washington pitcher Ray Clark, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Riverside on top, 10-9.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Shrader.
