Fans of the Boise Dread Kings who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Boise win over the visiting Alcoa Millionaires, 6-4. Mickey Ferrell started for the home team against Greg Brand. Mickey Ferrell earned accolades for his performance.

Dwayne Cook had a big 3-run home run for the Dread Kings in the bottom of the first inning. With Boise leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Greg Brand and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Dread Kings on top, 4-0.

"Mickey's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Boise manager Sean Drummond.
