The Riverside Rotters withstood a fine game by Rohnert Park second baseman Jesus Arrellano at Rotters Ballpark, to upend the Cougars, 10-7. Arrellano went 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Kevin Irons earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. His record is now 1-0. The Rotters, now 2-0, have hit the ground running this season.

Johnny Dantzler drove in one run for Riverside. In a tie game with one out in the bottom of the seventh, Dantzler came through with a run-scoring ground out. It put the Rotters in front, 8-7.

"We knocked the fire out of the ball," said Riverside manager Hermenegildo Fernando. "The guys swung the bats pretty good, and that's fun to see."
