Cory Cirello, who is tied for 10th in the StC with a 9.2 K/9 rate, had a strong outing for the New Rochelle Purple Wave against the Ann Arbor Z's at Knights Ballpark. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 6-2 win. Their 22-26 record puts the Purple Wave 4th in the Stripes Conference East Division.

The Z's had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Purple Wave going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old third baseman Gabe Garza came to the plate. Garza hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Ann Arbor hurler Juan Martinez. It was Garza's 9th home run of the year.

"Cory attacked hitters and trusted his stuff," said New Rochelle manager Zach Freeman.
