Z's Fall Short, 5-4, at Spokane
The Spokane Selects defeated the Ann Arbor Z's, 5-4, in part because of second baseman Bobby Butler. Butler was 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Selects. Spokane is now 25-19, Ann Arbor 15-29.

Had Ron Eckhardt not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Eckhardt hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Selects.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Butler.
