Knights Ballpark hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
The Ann Arbor Z's racked up a win at Knights Ballpark, bumping off the New Rochelle Purple Wave, 2-1, in 11 innings. Armando Ramirez, who started for Ann Arbor, pitched effectively for his team. Alex Holle, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Ann Arbor shortstop Pat Bell, facing Ron Lombardi, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Z's the 2-1 win.
"Some games build character," said Ann Arbor manager Bryan Gallegos. "Like this one."
This loss makes it 6 in a row for New Rochelle.
