New Rochelle Dealt 6-3 Defeat
|
The Orono Oaks topped the New Rochelle Purple Wave, 6-3, in Stripes Conference action at Ballpark of Lexington. The standout performance belonged to Orono pitcher and Savannah, Georgia, native Jeff Weingart. In 8 innings, Weingart surrendered 10 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. The Oaks are now 26-12, while the Purple Wave fall to 21-17.
George Theodore, who is tied for 5th in the StC in triples with 2, contributed to the Orono win with a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"We came in and did what we needed to do," said Orono manager Mike Barriga.
