Selects Best Pilots in Pitching Duel
The Spokane Selects beat the Denver Pilots, 2-1, at Selects Ballpark. Starting pitcher Ismael Resendez was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Resendez picked up the win for Spokane, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. The second-place Selects are now 21-17, the Pilots 18-20.

The Pilots had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Selects going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old left fielder Geoff Hereth came to the plate. Hereth hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 slider from Denver hurler Chris Marquis. It was Hereth's 1st double of the year.

"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Hereth.
