The Palm Springs Heat faced a tough opponent in Denver pitcher Rick Collins, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Heat Ballpark by a final score of 2-0 in 11 innings. Collins went 8 innings and allowed no runs. The last-place Pilots now sit at 10-20.
Palm Springs got a game-changing hit from Tom Klenke. The right fielder blasted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a winner.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Klenke.
