Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Denver Pilots got the win.

Denver starter Tom Rise pitched well against the Quebec Fighting Quakers at Pilots Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Earning his 10th save for Denver was Billy Merner.

Tied up with the Fighting Quakers in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Pilots got a boost from second baseman Robby Finkler. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Finkler saw a first pitch splitter from Richard Alter and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Denver on top, 3-2.

Finkler attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."

Denver now sports a record of 15-15.
