Roper Excels, But Bruins Win
|
Despite a fine performance by third baseman Regis Roper, the Orono Oaks lost to the Westwood Bruins, 7-4. Roper went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Westwood pitcher Jay Sikora got the win, upping his record to 3-1. D.J. Urbanek got the loss. Mike Weatherby sewed up the save, his 11th.
Joel Patrick hit a 2-run home run off D.J. Urbanek in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Bruins ahead, 3-1. In addition to the homer, Patrick had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"It never gets old," said Patrick. "Winning, that is."
The Bruins, now 19-9, have played some good baseball in the early going.
