New Rochelle Loses Again, 2-0
|
Westwood turned a good performance from starting pitcher John Blackman into a 2-0 triumph over the New Rochelle Purple Wave at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Justin Weil snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 1-1 on the season. The win brings the Bruins to 8-15, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
Westwood took a 1-0 lead on Robby Penland's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Penland hit in the bottom of the seventh, left New Rochelle pitcher Jim Hudson visibly frustrated.
"I believe in our guys," said Westwood skipper Hasan Raif. "I like the energy they're playing with."
