Westwood Bruins starter Tom Balletta pitched a strong game against the Tucson Raccoons at Jackie Robinson Stadium, leading the Bruins to victory, 4-1. The winning pitcher was Balletta, now 2-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 8. Mike Weatherby earned save number 5 this season.

The Raccoons had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Bruins going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Tony Thomas came to the plate. Thomas hit a 2-run double on a 2-2 cutter from Tucson hurler Jared Robbins. It was Thomas's 4th double of the year.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Balletta. "Just do my job."

Westwood goes to 9-5 with the win.
