Crawdads Squelch Marshalls Offense in Shutout Win
Not everyone stuck through the 20-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.

In a low-scoring contest between the Hickory Crawdads and the Fremont Marshalls, 23-year old left-handed pitcher Matt Schapp proved to be the difference. The Hickory left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-0 Crawdads win. Schapp got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. He allowed no runs.

Ty Beckford had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Hickory. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Hickory in front, 2-0.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Schapp.

The loss drops Fremont to 4-3.
