The Westwood Bruins beat the Hickory Crawdads, 6-3, at Crawdad Park. The win was due in part to left fielder Sergio Portillo, who went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Mike Weatherby got the save, the 1st for him this season. With the win, Westwood is 1-2.

Portillo had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-0 screwball from Roy Doub, he banged a 3-run home run to center, giving the Bruins a 6-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Portillo.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Portillo.
