Muskies Beat Chupacabras, 4-1
|
Behind the bravura of first baseman Javy Villapando, the Glendale Muskies topped the El Paso Chupacabras by the score of 4-1. Villapando was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Muskies. Jared Hall earned his 7th save, after closing out the game. With the win over El Paso, the Muskies improved to 73-66.
Villapando contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Glendale in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Villapando took a fastball from Victor Figueroa and stroked the home run to center. His 17th home run of the season allowed the Muskies to leap in front, 3-1.
Glendale manager Jon Greenberg called it "a good, solid win."
