The inspired effort of Lubbock third baseman Eric Brewer was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-3, to the Hartford Matadors. Brewer went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Picking up the save was Marty Capone, his 3rd. The Matadors improved their record to 65-66 by beating Lubbock.

Chris Scott's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 2-2. The Hartford first baseman hit a run-scoring single off Brad Bixby to put the Matadors up.

Scott called the win "a collective effort."
