Matadors Win Nail-Biter in 12
|
Fernando Garcia, who is tied for 4th in the SC in innings pitched with 152.2, imposed his will on the Marshals from the get-go. Relying mainly on his slider, the right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 Hartford triumph. Everton Jackson, credited with the win in relief, is now 5-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. The Hartford winning streak has reached 3 games.
The Matadors got a clutch hit from catcher Gene Cheatham. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Matadors.
Cheatham called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
