The Portland Mad Ants had to overcome a good performance from Montreal pitcher Marc Stephan to claim a 3-2 win at Mad Ants Ballpark. Stephan went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Portland reliever Carlos Mejia was the winner. His record is now 1-0. David Tirado took the loss. With the win, Portland raised its record to 70-43.
Matt Peters played the role of hero for Portland. In the bottom of the 12th, he launched a 2-run home run off David Tirado to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was the decisive blow.
"Both teams played hard," said Portland manager Will Berman.
