Champagne Top-Notch as Marshals Stop Tailgators, 4-3
|
The Baxter Springs Marshals knocked off the Chesapeake Tailgators, 4-3, in Stars Conference action at Marshals Ballpark. Baxter Springs pitcher and Georgetown, Colorado, native Alan Champagne had an outstanding performance. Jeremy Reyner notched his 5th save of the season. Baxter Springs is now 49-49, Chesapeake 42-56.
Champagne was in the zone all game. He frustrated Chesapeake hitters while giving the Marshals 7 innings of quality work. Champagne threw 108 pitches, allowing 2 hits and getting 14 punchouts.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Champagne told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
