Quebec Loses, 5-3, in 10
|
The Joilet Jesters finished off the Quebec Aces, 5-3, in 10 innings. A good share of the credit went to left fielder Jose Duarte. Duarte went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Jesters. Rick Hill, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1 innings. Chris Rumrill earned the save for Joilet, his 6th.
Had Duarte not come through in the top of the tenth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Duarte hit a 2-run single. The Jesters took the lead, 5-3, and never looked back.
Duarte said his team "played with determination."
The Jesters are now 30-31, while the Aces fall to 34-27.
