Tailgators Lose, 3-0, to Nashville
In a low-scoring affair between the Nashville Lasers and the Chesapeake Tailgators, pitcher Mickey Ferrell was the difference between victory and defeat. The Nashville right-hander earned kudos in the 3-0 Lasers win. Ferrell, now 3-4, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Reynaldo Beltran earned the save, his 5th, for the Lasers.

Nashville used the timely hitting of Joe Cross to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Lasers ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

Cross called the win "a team effort."

The first-place Lasers have won 5 consecutive games.
