Hartford got a terrific performance from pitcher Alberto Renteria, but it wasn't enough to beat the Baxter Springs Marshals. Baxter Springs won the Ballpark of Tacoma contest, 2-0. Renteria threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Mal Burkes, who is tied for 10th in the SC with a 1.08 WHIP, was the winner in relief. His record is now 5-4. The losing pitcher was Alberto Renteria. Steven Hyatt recorded his 5th save for Baxter Springs.

Baxter Springs used a well-timed hit by Clark Lewis to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Marshals ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"That's how you're going to be successful," said Marshals manager Justin Watts. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."

At 23-22, Baxter Springs is in third place in the Stars Conference East Division.
