The Baxter Springs Marshals went down to defeat to Ricky Garay and his Hartford teammates. The final score was 3-1, in favor of the Matadors. Hartford is now 21-23, Baxter Springs 22-22.

Steve Doyle had a big solo home run for the Matadors in the bottom of the third inning. With Hartford leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a curveball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher John Bickel and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Matadors on top, 3-1.

Doyle called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
