Stampede Suffer 5-4 Loss to Chesapeake
Chesapeake beat Lubbock at Tailgators Ballpark, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to pinch hitter Jimmy Bauer. He went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Joe Diekemper picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Sam Naber suffered the loss. Picking up the save was Eric Sawyer, his 7th.

Bauer had a timely hit for Chesapeake in the bottom of the seventh. With Chesapeake trailing 4-2, he turned a 1-2 changeup into a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Chesapeake.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Lubbock manager William Maysonet. "But we decided not to take it."

The Tailgators raised their record to 17-25.
